Resumo

The objective of the research was to investigate the basketball courses present in the Pedagogical Course Projects (PCP) of a degree in Physical Education at federal public universities. The methodology used is qualitative in nature, using document analysis as a technique. The documents used as the primary source of data were the PCP for a Teaching Degree in Physical Education from 27 federal universities, in which the courses linked to basketball, their respective course syllabus and bibliographies were identified. The subjects were analyzed based on the assumptions of content analysis, considering the following items: subject titles, workload, offer period, nature of the subject, syllabus and bibliography. Regarding the results, 34 courses were identified that address basketball, most of them of mandatory nature (19), with 60 hours being the most recurrent workload (six courses). In the course syllabus, the predominance of three content categories was identified, namely: specific aspects of the sport: tactics, technique and rules; didactic-pedagogical aspects: teaching, learning, methodology; and historical and sociocultural aspects of sport: history, social, political and anthropological aspects. Finally, the most cited bibliographical references in the disciplines are books that discuss the technical-tactical content of basketball.
