Melancolia e processo artístico: pintura e matéria

Abstract

The objective of this work is to conduct an investigation in my own art and artistic process in order to better understand the melancholy in this production of mine and how its materialization may occur as a concept. I produce paintings, trying to observe how this process takes place using melancholy as an artistic concept, in addition to experi￾encing it in a practical way. I research and relate works of other visual artists, and perceive if there is any poetic or material connection. With great focus on the artistic process, I want to bring a reflection about melancholy in production and results. Artists throughout history have dealt with this subject or also studied similar processes, between melancholy and anguish, such as Vincent Van Gogh, Mark Rothko and Francis Bacon, so I bring their productions as a point of observation and analysis.
