Resumo

The Meia Ponte Watershed – BHMP is located in the southern portion of the State of Goiás, with an area of 14,521.8 km², equivalent to 4% of the State's area. Its main sub-basins are: João Leite River, Santa Maria and Campanha, Dourados and Caldas Rivers. It has a predominance of pasture areas in the central and extreme north regions, while agriculture dominates the northern and southern portions. The general objective of this study was to assess changes in land use and land cover in the Meia Ponte Watershed between 1988 and 2018 using data from the MapBiomas Platform. To obtain coverage and land use maps, different processes were carried out, the main ones being the acquisition of data on the platform, processing, and data extraction for the study area in the chosen time frame. The results showed a reduction in green areas and an increase in areas related to human activities and occupation, which are: agriculture and livestock, urban infrastructure, and water buses. The Permanent Protection Areas - APP’s have suffered a reduction in native vegetation and an increase in human activities, especially agriculture and livestock. BHMP restoration is extremely important for the public supply of the Metropolitan Region of Goiânia, both for its quality and quantity.
