Papel da proteína p53 na proliferação neoplásica

Resumo

The p53 protein, related to cell cycle arrest, has biological function and importance in cancer research, because its changes are associated with cancer development. In this review were collected important information on the p53, particularly its action in the suppression of tumors, relationship with other genes and functions in anticancer therapy. The TP53 gene is responsible for encoding the p53 protein, whose expression is low in the absence of cellular stress. However, the same can mutate and be changed by other genes. The analysis and interpretation of this protein may be useful in early diagnosis of cancer and prognosis of these lesions. Moreover, restoring the function of p53 has been a hope for the development of new anticancer agents.
