Resumo
This work was developed in the county of Umuarama, in the northwest of the state
of Paraná, in the morphologic compartment of Xambré river. It presents short hill
slopes, cut by baselines, where problems of erosion are common, associated with
stormwater runoff, which generate soil mass movements (landslides), mainly on
slopes breaks. In view of the above, the study aims to identify the factors responsible
for the soil mass movements, existing in the geomorphological compartment,
through the macro and micromorphological results and the physical-hydrical
results, obtained during a lateral sequential of soils, representative of the hill slopes
and of the interfluves of the area, called São José toposequence, which is made
up of two distinct sets of soils, divided by a distinctive concave slope break. These
two distributed pedological systems, respectively upstream and downstream of the
slope break, present different water resource management and are closely associated
with the slope gradient and the slope shape as well as with the geometry and the
morphological properties of soil horizons presented vertical and laterally along
the toposequence, where the slope break also dissociates distinct pedogenetical
processes, precisely where there is the occurrence of soil mass movements.
