Resumo

Phytochemical studies made with different species of Erythroxylum (belonging to the family Erythroxylaceae) led to the isolation of several secondary metabolites such as fl avonoids and alkaloids, and tannins, terpenes and phenylpropanoids activities that have anti-oxidant, anti-carcinogenic, anti-infl ammatory activity among other. The present work was aimed at providing the phytochemical study of fractions of the methanol extract of leaves of Erythroxylum deciduum A. St.-Hill, aiming at the isolation and identifi cation of substances, as well as evaluating the antitumor activity of K562 cells from chronic myeloid leukemia methanol extract of fruits of E. deciduum.
