Resumo

The literary text was constantly dinamized, in the twentieth century, by new mediatic technologies. In these intersemiotic relations, the dialog between literature and cinema is made salient. If, on the one hand, literature helped the cinema to be outstanding as a way of art, on the other hand the cinema enhanced and made public the artistic writing. By having this perspective in mind, this article discusses the dialog that contemporary art has with classical masterpieces of universal literature. In order to demonstrate this kind of dialog, we use The tempest, one of Shakespeare’s plays, and Prospero’s Books, a film by Peter Greenaway.
