Resumo
The cerrado stricto sensu frequently occur associated to dystrophic and well drained soils.
However, nearby some rivers this community is found associated to Fluvisols where, during the rainy
season, vegetation deals with anoxic stress. The present work aims to characterize a cerrado stricto
sensu over Fluvisols at Paracatu-MG, Brasil (17°28’12.43”; 46°33’51.99’’). The floristic survey was conducted
through random walks throughout the area, and during one year, monthly, botanical samples
in the reproductive phase were taken. In the total, 70 species distributed in 61 genera and 33 families
were found, including wide distributed, Curatella Americana and Astronium fraxinifolium, as well as,
narrow distributed species such as Copaifera oblongifolia and Sapium haematospermum. The result of
TWINSPAN corroborated the results of the CCA, a clear separation of the plots for their fertility levels
and flooding conditions to which they are subjected. As shown in the UPGMA clustering, floristic this area
is more related to other areas that also suffer flooding, even though geographically distant. Thus, the
seasonal flooding affects the behavior of the savannah discussed, which makes the peculiar structural
point of view in relation to other areas compared.
