Resumo
This study is the result of a final work for the
Specialization course in Literary Studies and Literature
Teaching at the Faculdade de Letras/UFG, concluded
in 2020. Its objective is to emphasize the importance of
inserting Afro-Brazilian literature into daily school life as
a necessary instrument for awakening interest in literary
reading and to raise awareness and combat the different
forms of oppression, mainly suffered by black women.To
this end, it presents a brief analysis of three short stories
by Conceição Evaristo with the objective of problematizing
women’s issues, of class and race from the perspective
of gender studies, especially those about black women,
in order to show how the critical Reading can contribute
to train more engaged and conscious readers about the
representation of black people in Brazilian literature.
