Currently, the quantification of the lumbar lordosis and thoracic kyphosis, in
postural assessments with cinemetry, using angular variables based methods, is highly
susceptible to marker reapplication errors. This study aimed to analyse the variation,
between maker reapplications, of the angle and the geometric curvature, in saggital plane, in
postural assessments with cinemetry during running. Four men (36-61 years; 1.63-1.77 cm;
61.0-75.0 kg) participated in two postural evaluation sessions, running on a treadmill, 9.3
km/h, on different days. The geometric curvature peaks and the angles, in the thoracic and
lumbar regions, were computed, in the trunk sagittal plane, for quantification of lumbar
lordosis and thoracic kyphosis. The angles were more sensitive to palpation simulated
errors. In both the thoracic region and lumbar region the peak of curvature was more
reproducible than the angle. Although these results, the lumbar peak of curvature presented
inconclusive results regarding the reproducibility between tests. It will be needed, further
studies with more representative samples, to obtain conclusive results and generalizations.
