Resumo
Corn is globally one of the most commonly used grains for feed and food. However,
some disease problems, like the attack of pathogenic fungi, affect the potential of this crop. To
avoid so, fungicides must be used to ensure the success of the crop. Currently, some fungicides
based on strobilurins have an effect to combat the pathogen as well as a physiological effect,
favorable to plants. This study aimed to evaluate physiological effects and nutritional qualities
of corn plants after leaf application of pyraclostrobin, with different levels of nitrogen. The ex‐
periment was carried out in the experimental area of the ESALQ/USP, Department of Plant
Production, in Piracicaba/SP, Brazil. The treatments were: T 1 N (without fungicide + 30 kg ha ‐1
N); T 2 N (without fungicide + 60 kg ha ‐1 N); T 3 N (without fungicide + 90 kg ha ‐1 N); T 4 NP (Pyra‐
clostrobin + tebuconazole + 30 kg ha ‐1 N); T 5 NP (Pyraclostrobin + tebuconazole + 60 kg ha ‐1 N);
T 6 NP (Pyraclostrobin + tebuconazole + 90 kg ha ‐1 N); and T 7 NA (Cyproconazole Azoxystrobin +
90 kg ha ‐1 N). The Zea mays L. hybrid DKB 330 was cultivated with irrigation. The measures
were fenometric and bromatologics variables. The results show that the application of pyraclos‐
trobin provided an average increase in nitrate reductase activity of 56% and a productivity of 8
bags ha ‐1 every 30 kg of N added to soil as compared to treatments without application. The
variables of dry matter, crude protein and ether layer remained unchanged. Thus, it was
concluded that foliar application of pyraclostrobin, in corn, causes an increase in metabolic
activity of this culture and, consequently, an increase in grain yield. However, it does not
promote changes in nutritive value variables.
