Resumo

The prevalence of syphilis among adolescents and young people in Brazil is a growing public health problem, with a significant increase in cases in recent years. The disease, caused by the bacterium Treponema pallidum, has an alarming rate of infection, especially among young people, who are vulnerable due to factors such as early onset of sexual activity, multiple partners and inadequate use of preservatives. The main objective of the research was to analyze the scenario of syphilis among adolescents and young people in Brazil from 2017 to 2024, analyzing prevalence, risk factors and demographic variations. The methodology adopted consisted of an integrative literature review, in which 20 relevant articles published in this period were selected, using databases such as SciELO, Pubmed, Google Scholar and the VHL Regional Portal. The main results indicated an overall prevalence of syphilis of 142.7 cases per 100,000 inhabitants adolescents and young people, with peaks in 2021 and a significant drop in 2019, possibly due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was noted that most cases occurred in men, especially in the 20-29 age group, and that the incidence among adolescents aged 13-19 increased 2.6 times between 2015 and 2022. The research also highlighted the underreporting of cases as a persistent challenge, making it difficult to understand the true magnitude of the epidemic. The conclusion emphasizes the urgent need to implement public policies that include comprehensive sexual education, access to health services and awareness campaigns, to reduce the incidence of syphilis and guarantee the health and well-being of this vulnerable population.
