Resumo
It is believed that the knowledge of the History of Science, including Mathema tics, is of great value for the teaching and learning processes, as well as for the formation of
future teachers. Therefore, the objective was to analyze the characteristics of the discipline
History of Mathematics in the curriculum of the undergraduate courses in Mathematics in
operation, in 2019, in the public institutions of education of Goiás. For this purpose, a do cumentary research was conducted, based on educational legislation and official documents
of the 14 courses subject to this investigation. To substantiate the analysis of documentary
data, a bibliographic research was conducted, based on authors who discuss history and
history of mathematics. As a result, this study showed that, in most courses, the disci pline in question is allocated in the first periods, without requiring prerequisites, with very
large contents and insufficient workload. This leads to the need to discuss the format of
the discipline in the courses analyzed, as well as its real contribution to the formation of
teachers.
