Resumo
This paper aims to give a description/reflection about the action plan realized in
school in the Metropolitan Region of Goiânia (RMG) to understand the potential of
the Director Plan, a document of urban management, for teaching Geography in the civic education of students. The plan is based on a teaching methodology of
participatory and meaningful action by the student. The intent is to make this
teaching about the city assist in the process of training for citizenship and the
process of building concepts. Data collection was developed in four geography
lessons in a class of sixth grade in a public school elementary school. The
observation and student activities were the basic instruments of data collection and
the Director Plan was the main teaching resource used in class. The data showed
that the use of this instrument of urban management in the classroom enhances
the learning about the city and citizenship training.
