Vaquejada: a pega de boi na caatinga resiste no sertão sergipano

Resumo

This paper aims at analyzing 'bull racing' (the so-called 'vaquejadas'), bringing to the fore aspects of this cultural event's constitution as well as its significance to rural communities near São Francisco river, in the setao (semi-arid region) of Sergipe State, in Brazil's Northeast. Research was undertaken in rural communities, with cowboys and their families, during days of party.
