| dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this article is to analyze the citizenship proposed by Rousseau in light of certain delimitations placed by the philosopher to the exercise of this right, which configure a kind of political participation that would be appropriate to the regime described in the Social Contract. So, I intend to show that popular sovereignty has, for the Genevan writer, a key role in defending the legislation, and that it is up to the Lawgiver and to the magistrates guide citizens in approving the good laws necessary for the State. This thesis is consistent with Rousseau’s republicanism, since it shows that these citizens, members of the social compact, are responsible for protecting and preserving their own freedom throughout the existence of the political body. | pt_BR |
| dc.description.resumo | O intuito deste artigo é analisar a cidadania proposta por Rousseau à luz de certas delimitações colocadas pelo filósofo ao exercício desse direito, as quais configuram um tipo de participação política que seria apropriado ao regime descrito no Contrato Social. Assim, procurarei mostrar que a soberania popular tem, para o autor genebrino, um papel fundamental na defesa da legislação, cabendo ao Legislador e aos magistrados guiar os cidadãos comuns na aprovação das boas leis necessárias ao Estado. Essa tese é compatível com o republicanismo rousseauniano, na medida em que ela mostra que esses cidadãos, os membros do pacto social, são os responsáveis por proteger e conservar sua própria liberdade ao longo da existência do corpo político. | pt_BR |
