Resumo
This article addresses the “narrative place” from the narrator of Two Brothers, published in 2000 by
the contemporary writer Milton Hatoum, as well as reflects discussions about identity and erasures
in narrative discourse in modern times. For that, theoretical-critical assumptions of Dalcastagnè
(2012), Ginzburg (2012), Genette (1985), Prado (1981) among others will be used. It will be
highlighted that, in the aforementioned novel, the negativity is manifested in the narrator’s story,
demonstrating the social problems in the cultural formation of Brazil. Self-writing, displacement,
and memory function as the aesthetic unit of the literary project constructed by the writer in
question.
