Resumo
The objective of this research was to compare the
efficiency of methods to suppress tegument impermeability on
Leucaena diversifolia seeds. Seeds were collected in Botucatu,
São Paulo State, Brazil, in May 2003, and allowed to dry in the
shadow at room temperature. Samples taken from pure seed
fraction were submitted to the following treatments: immersion
in boiling water for one and two minutes; immersion in
concentrated sulfuric acid (H2SO4) for one, three, and five minutes;
immersion in H2SO4 diluted to 60% for five and ten minutes; and
control (intact seeds). Germination tests indicated the
concentrated H2SO4 for five minutes as the most efficient
treatment.
