Resumo

The corporal demands are several, varying according to the style of dance practiced. In the literature, it is already possible to find studies that relate the practice of ballet to the onset of injuries in dancers from dance companies and schools. Therefore, this study aimed to verify the occurrence of lower limb injuries caused by the practice of dance in students of the dance graduation course in Federal University of Goiás. The sample consisted of 18 students. We used a questionnaire prepared by the author with 22 questions in order to understand the incidence of lower limb injuries in the sample. Among the participants, 66.66% had lower limbs injuries, most of them practicing ballet, jazz, urban and belly dance. The most affected region was the knee, followed by the hip and the foot. The factors that caused the injury were the stress caused by repetitions during rehearsals and choreographies, followed by practices performed during the class and the performance of specific movements. Through this research, it was possible to understand the lower limb regions most affected by dance practices and the possible causes related to the occurrence of these injuries. Besides, it was verified that despite the injuries incidence, only 58.33% of the participants sought diagnosis and proper treatment.
