This work presents the verification of a synchronous belt transmission system applied to the motorization of sliding doors. The analyzed system is already commercialized and applied in real installations, consisting of a stepper motor, a mechanical reduction system using bevel gears, a synchronous toothed pulley, and a synchronous belt. The reference door has four movable panels, totaling 280 kg, with a clear span of 10 m in length and 3 m in height. The actuation force required to initiate door movement was determined based on the EN 1527:2019 standard, considering the criterion of 5% of the door mass converted into an equivalent force, resulting in 137 N. Based on these data, the required mechanical power, equal to 23.3 W, the design torque at the pulley, equal to 3.84 Nm, the gear mesh forces, the minimum shaft diameter, and the belt capacity were calculated. From these results, the compatibility of the main components currently used in the installed system was verified, including the synchronous belt, pulleys, bevel gears, shafts, bearings, and coupling. The available torque at the gearbox output was estimated at 27 Nm, which is higher than the required design torque. The belt presented a transmissible peripheral force through the teeth of 1540 N, higher than the required actuation force of 137 N, and an allowable tensile load of 3190 N, higher than the maximum tensile force estimated at 274 N. For the shafts, the calculated minimum diameter was 13.86 mm, while the shaft used in the system has a diameter of 20 mm. The selected coupling has a torque capacity of 42 Nm, higher than the available motor torque during operation, estimated at 15 Nm. It is concluded that the existing system is technically suitable for the analyzed application at a preliminary level, although there are possibilities for future optimization regarding motor selection, component compactness, use of alternative solutions, and adaptation to different door sizes or size ranges.
