Resumo

This research aims to analyze the type of management provided in educational institutions to better understand how democratic and participatory management impacts on child and youth development. Thus, the primary objective of the study is to analyze how the constitutional principle of democratic and participatory management influences the development of children and youth students. The research has a qualitative approach and bibliographical and documental nature, with the theoretical basis based on texts of a bibliographical nature and on the regulatory laws of basic education. The theoretical pillar of this research is based on Freire (2021, 2022a, 2022b), Hooks (2013, 2017), Libâneo, Oliveira and Toschi (2012), Lück (2013) and Paro (2005, 2016). Therefore, by understanding goal 19 of the PNE (2014-2024) it is possible to envision how the constitutional principle of democratic management is a fundamental right to be legally fulfilled in public institutions. It is also necessary to consider how democratic and participatory management is helpful in the teaching and learning process. In this way, when we assimilate the impacts that democratic and participatory management, when it is implemented at school, will enable us to understand the entire development process of children and adolescents. Therefore, it is possible to state from the result of this work that democratic and participatory management is fundamental for this process of child and youth development to actually occur in all areas of their lives, providing the full exercise of citizenship of the student and their significant learning.
