Item Tamanduá-bandeira (Myrmecophaga tridactyla): Anatomia aplicada a radiografia e tomografia do aparato hióide e coluna vertebral(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2011-09-20) BOGOEVICH, Andria de Melo; CARDOSO, Júlio Roquete; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1710994249874447; MORENO, Juan Carlos Duque; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8509640024284103; BORGES, Naída Cristina; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9181279951885005The giant anteater is a peculiar mammal which during its evolutionary process, has undergone several body changes due to their insect-base diet. Although it is distributed throughout the country, it is a species typical of the Cerrado, which is threatened with extinction. In the last decade there has been an improvement in access to methods of imaging diagnostic in veterinary medicine, the availability of modern and faster techniques. These techniques have revolutionized the ability to explore non-invasive body parts. For a better interpretation of these techniques, knowledge of regional anatomy is required. However, data on radiographic anatomy of giant anteaters have not been reported. The aim of this study is to characterize and describe the outline contour of the spine bone and the hyoid bone of the giant anteater using radiographic and computed tomography images. Seven giant anteaters at various ages, from IBAMA, were used for radiographic examination and two adults for CT. The spine along its entire length and the hyoid elements were evaluated in all animals using both imaging techniques. Radiography provided satisfactory images of the bony contours and location of these structures, although the CT was more efficient to provide images with less overlap between them, allowing details identification such as the Xenarthrous process in the lumbar vertebrae, characteristic of the species, and the visualization of the V-bone in the hyoid apparatus.Item Estudo descritivo de alterações dentárias de equídeos utilizando a radiografia e a tomografia como métodos auxiliares de diagnóstico(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2012-02-28) FARIA, Carlos Vinícius de Miranda; SILVA, Luiz Antônio Franco da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0446055905975647; ROZA, Marcello Rodrigues da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6208651430407499; BORGES, Naída Cristina; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9181279951885005Tomographic and radiographic examination can help in the diagnostic and prognostic of lesions in equids check teeth based on knowledge of topographic anatomy. Many dental lesions still need better diagnostic imaging carachterization. The objective of this study was to compare and correlate images from radiography and computerized tomography with visual inspection of equids heads. After being submited and approved in the UFG Research Ethical Committee, protocol Nº 193/2011., were utilized 10 equids skulls of animals from the clinical and surgical service of Veterinary Hospital from School of Veterinary and Animal Science of Goiás Federal University (HV/EVZ/UFG) and pieces from the pathology service of EVZ/UFG. For radiographic examination were used lateral, lateral oblique (30º and 45º) for maxilla and mandible and dorsoventral. For tomographic examination the skulls were positioned in the ventral region of mandibula over the tomography s table and images were obtained in transverse slides. From visual inspections were observed dental enamel overgrowth in all the heads (100%), rostral and caudal hook were observed in four heads (40%), rostral and caudal ramp in six heads (60%), diastema in three heads (30%), wave in two heads (20%), incomplete fracture of clinical crown in two heads (20%) and dental eruption in two heads (20%).Tomography was very important for confirmation of fractures seen isolated in visual inspection and radiographic examination and were visible the periosteal reactions in the alveolar bone border of the tooth. All dental lesions observed were classified as acquired with multifatorial etiology and considered important finds because can impair dental check occlusion. It can be concluded that radiographic examination should be used in association to clinical exam and tomographical examination is superior to the examination of bones details, periapical region, root, pulpar cavity and structures that form the tooth like dentin, enamel and cement. Tridimensional reconstruction of the skull´s tomographic examination is advantageous for evaluation of details in the surface of bones and teeth.Item Detecção de resíduos de soluções sanitizantes empregadas em pedilúvio para bovinos no leite e solo(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2011-07-04) GOULART, Daniel Silva; FIORAVANTI, Maria Clorinda Soares; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8772502020076257; SILVA, Luiz Antônio Franco da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0446055905975647Copper sulfate and sodium hypochlorite are used in the preparation of cattle footbath solutions, aimed at treating and preventing digital diseases, but little is known about the residues that these substances leave in animal products. The purpose of this study was to evaluate, on soil and milk, residues left by chemicals used in cattle foot bath. The study was developed in two stages. In the first stage, the residual of chlorine and copper in the milk of healthy cows after successive passages in footbath solutions containing these substances was analyzed and the costs of the solutions were estimated. The presence of copper residues was evaluated using atomic absorption spectrophotometry and chlorine residues were evaluated by dosing total chloride in milk using a commercial kit. In the experiment, 14 healthy cows were divided into two groups (GI and GII) of seven animals each. In GI a solution of sodium hypochlorite 1% was used and in GII copper sulphate 5% was used. The milk samples were collected before the passage through the footbath (M0) after 24 (M1), 48 (M2) and 72 hours (M3) and 15 days (M15), following the last passage. Statistical analysis comparing the moments of each sample and the substances evaluated was performed using Friedman test followed by Dunn's test (p <0.05). It was concluded that the values of total chloride and copper in the milk of healthy cattle, after daily passage in footbath for a period of seven days, showed some variations considered insufficient to cause harm to human health and the solutions did not show exorbitant costs. In the second stage, copper residues were evaluated in soil treated with a mixture of cattle feces and urine, simulating cattle liquid manure, containing or not copper sulfate solution. Initially samples were collected from soil in pastures of EVZ / UFG, which were placed in PVC columns divided into four layers. The columns were divided into three treatments (CI, CII and CIII). The CI treatment received only cattle liquid manure and the CII and CIII treatments received the same material added of different amounts of copper sulfate solution. During 120 days, rain was simulated on the PVC columns. In the statistical analysis, analysis of variance followed by the Scott-Knott test at 5% probability were used. It was observed that copper levels were significantly higher in CIII treatment than in CI and CII. The same is true regarding the treatments CII for CI. In treatments CII and CIII copper levels were significantly higher in the superficial layer of soil throughout the experimental period. It was concluded that copper residues available to plants in soil treated with a mixture containing bovine feces and urine associated with copper sulfate solution and water are higher in the upper layers of the soil showing no significant changes in the deeper layers after consecutive rains.Item Células-tronco da medula óssea e do tecido adiposo na regeneração do nervo ulnar em equinos(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2012-08-17) MORAES, Júlia de Miranda; GODOY, Roberta Ferro de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3912330933091811; MOURA, Veridiana Maria Brianezi Dignani de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8773201078957745; BRITO, Luiz Augusto Batista; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3212353728321020The aim of this work was to evaluate the regeneration of equine ulnar nerves submitted to neurotomy, silicone tubing and cell therapy with bone marrow mononuclear cells fraction (MCF) or adipose derived mesenchymal stem cells (ADSC). Fifteen adult horses were divided into three groups with five animals each: control group (CG) with the use of saline solution, group with FCM deposition and group with ADSC deposition. The same surgical procedure was performed in all groups, using both nerves of each animal (right and left), establishing two moments of biopsy: on the 13th week on the right limb (CG1, MCF1 and ADSC1) and on the 26th week on the left limb (CG2, MCF2 and ADSC2). The MCF and ADSC were obtained respectively, from bone marrow and adipose tissue from each animal, both used as an authologous implant. After 13 and 26 weeks, biopsies were performed in all groups and immediately it was made some fragments slide imprints for viewing the nanocrystal fluorescent label. The fragments were fixed in 10% buffered formalin for histological analysis, with HE, luxol fast blue, Masson's trichrome, immunohistochemistry against the antibodies neurofilament (NF), S-100, FGF-2 and GDNF. Microscopically it was observed the presence of axonal growth, connective tissue, inflammatory infiltrate, Schwann cells, neural growth factors, myelin sheath and wallerian degeneration. For histologic analysis, it was established qualitative scores and for immunohistochemistry it was performed quantitative analysis with Image J program. It was observed wallerian degeneration reduction, better fascicular reorganization, new collagen increased, myelin sheath early formation, and NF antibody stronger staining in the experimental groups compared to CG. The ADSC group presented the best results than the other groups, showing ADSCs efficiency compared to MCF and CG for peripheral nerve regeneration. However, it was proved a longer time necessity to occur complete regeneration of peripheral nerve after injury.Item Procyon cancrivorus (mão-pelada): aspectos morfológicos das glândulas salivares e distribuição do nervo isquiático(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2012-03-02) PEREIRA, Kleber Fernando; CARDOSO, Júlio Roquete; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1710994249874447; DAMASCENO, Adilson Donizeti; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3900110295277130; ARAÚJO, Eugênio Gonçalves de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3919777570059928The raccoon (Procyon cancrivorus) is a wild carnivore, reaching one meter in length including the tail, and weigh up to 10 kg. Known as raccoon or mouse naked hand washer has the peculiarity to dive in the water everything she eats. It has nocturnal and crepuscular, terrestrial and arboreal climber, a resident of shrub areas, preferably near water courses, is a good swimmer with great ability to dig, climb and is living alone. This thesis has generated the production of two articles. In the first article, entitled "Origin and anatomical distribution of the ischiatic nerve of raccoon", it was proposed to study the anatomy of the ischiatic nerve of raccoon in order to build morphological basis of this nerve with the aim of comparative neurology, and thus provide necessary support especially for the practices used in clinical medicine and surgery. The ischiatic nerve of the raccoon comes from the ventral ramus of the sixth and seventh nerves lumbar and first sacral nerve, resembling the origin of the guinea pig. Leaves the pelvic cavity through the greater ischiatic foramen, presenting themselves surrounded by the superficial gluteal muscles, biceps femoris and caudal crural abductor, this path similar to the dog and is distributed to the gluteus biceps, gluteus medius, gluteus deep, as well as observed in goats Saanen, and quadratus femoris muscles twin, resembling in dog, cat and pig, biceps femoris, semitendinosus, semimembranosus, observed in all specimens analyzed and adductor magnus, only observed raccoon. In all specimens are compared, the ischiatic nerve ends by bifurcating into the tibial and common peroneal nerve. In the second article, entitled "Morphological Aspects of the salivary glands of crab-eating raccoon (Procyon cancrivorus)" were described morphological aspects of salivary glands and their ducts located in Procyon cancrivorus and compare with literature data on the morphology of domestic and wild animals such as dogs, cats, skunks and raccoons. The salivary glands of the raccoon are formed by the parotid, mandibular, sublingual and zygomatic. The parotid gland shows irregular triangular shape and mandibular rounded contour is observed surrounded by a fibrous capsule. The sublingual is divided into two parts: a caudal part which lies in the region occiptomandibular the digastric muscle and the rostral part lies between the mucous membrane of the mouth and mylohyoid muscle with its respective duct. The zygomatic gland is small and rounded, situated in the rostral part of the pterygopalatine fossa. The anatomical knowledge of the origin and distribution of the ischiatic nerve and the morphology of the salivary glands when compared with bare hand domestic and wild animals, provides contributions to medicine and surgery in wild animals and for future studies on the general biology of the species.Item Diagnóstico da circovirose suína em criações intensivas no Estado de Goiás(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2011-03-25) SALES, Tatyane Penha; SOBESTIANSKY, Jurij; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0995799988828810; MATOS, Moema Pacheco Chediak; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6513964838316485; ARAÚJO, Eugênio Gonçalves de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3919777570059928Circovirosis, a disease associated to porcine circovirus 2 (PCV2), has been clinically reported as postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS), porcine dermatitis and nephropathy syndrome (PDNS) and other diseases presenting reproductive, respiratory and digestive clinical manifestations. Such diseases are considered emergent and economically important for the pig industry. This study aimed to identify the agent and characterize the clinical, gross and microscopic changes of circovirosis in pig intensive production farms in the state of Goiás, Brazil. For that purpose, 20 pigs with clinical signs of circovirosis from six farms were used. After clinical examination, the pigs were slaughtered, submitted to gross inspection and samples from the spleen, kidneys, lungs, liver and lymph nodes were collected for microscopic analysis and PCV2 identification by PCR. Microscopic changes typical of PCV2 infection were found. PCV2 DNA was identified in all tested animals; however, when compared to clinical signs and gross findings data, only 16 of 20 pigs showed signs of circovirosis. Taken together, the data may support a routine protocol of circovirosis identification and prevention in the state of Goias.Item FUNÇÃO RENAL E HEPÁTICA DE CADELAS ADULTAS SUBMETIDAS A PROGRAMA DE GANHO E PERDA DE PESO(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2008-11-21) SANTOS, Brunno Medeiros dos; FIORAVANTI, Maria Clorinda Soares; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8772502020076257; ALVES, Rosangela de Oliveira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5593911382353878; BORGES, Naída Cristina; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9181279951885005Obesity is a metabolic disorder which has increasing in alarming proportions all over the world. This study objective was to evaluate kidney and liver function in 14 mixed breed neutered bitches submitted to a weight gain program and subsequent weight loss treatment. At the end of weight gain program, the bitches fed an ad libitum way with hypercaloric diet was divided in two groups, one which has reached 14,58% and another 20,43% of overweight. In the weight loss treatment the bitches were organized in two new groups, fed a 60% of energetic requirement for maintenance with hypocaloric or maintenance diet. The kidney was evaluated by urine specific gravity, urea and creatinine serum levels, urinary GGT and urinary protein to urinary creatinine ratio. Liver evaluation was made by serum ALT, ALP, GGT, albumin, cholesterol and bilirubins. The weight gain increases urea and decreases cholesterol and GGT serum levels. The weight loss decreases urine specific gravity, urea and serum cholesterol, by the way increases GGT activity, returning to the same levels of the beginning of the study. The short time overweight does not induced deleterious effects on kidney and liver function. There is no difference between hypocaloric or maintenance diet in terms of weight loss and quality of kidney and liver functionItem Morfometria radiográfica e tomográfica em dígitos de bovinos e bubalinos(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2012-02-23) SILVA, Luiz Henrique da; SILVA, Luiz Antônio Franco da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0446055905975647; BORGES, Naída Cristina; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9181279951885005; SILVA, Olízio Claudino da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7787082855013504Radiographic and computed tomography (CT) findings may contribute to the diagnosis and prognosis of diseases based on knowledge of digits morphometric reference values. Some breeds of cattle and buffaloes still require determinations of these values for the digits. Thus, the objective with this research was to compare and correlate the condyles and phalanges, on radiographic images, and measurements of internal and external structures of the hoof, using computed tomography, to buffaloes and cattle breeds Nelore, Curraleira and Pantaneira. After submission and approval of the project by the Ethics Committee in Research of UFG, Protocol No. 090/2011, 114 were used digits of the locomotor members cattle and buffaloes without lameness in foot. Members were collected from an abattoir under Federal Inspection, disarticulated joints carpal/metacarpal and tarsal/metatarsal and by lot were used only thoracic and left pelvic limbs. For radiographic placements used were dorso-palmar/plantar and members of the CT scans were positioned with the palmar or plantar portion of the table CT scanner and the images obtained by transverse sections. From the radiographic images was measured the length of the condyles, proximal, middle and distal phalanges and the entire condyle and digit together. CT measurements were carried out: thickness of the sole; distance between the inner wall of the sole the distal phalanx; distance between the inner wall of the hoof the distal phalanx; thickness of the wall hoof; base length of the distal phalanx; side length of the distal phalanx; height of the distal phalanx, length of the sole; length of the dorsal hoof wall; heel depth, angle between the lengths of the wall and the sole length and angle between the side and base of the distal phalanx. To compare the means between the races was used the Tukey test (p<0.05). The Pearson correlation was performed between the weight and all measurements and multivariate analysis tested the similarity of the groups. The results of radiographic verified for the buffaloes, the greater length of the proximal phalanx in forelimbs (Lateral: 6.28 ± 0.13; Medial: 6.31 ± 0.18) and the hindlimbs (Lateral: 6.48 ± 0.15; Medial: 6.38 ± 0.17). The lengths of these phalanges did not differ (p> 0.05) between the Pantaneiro and Curraleiro digits in the forelimbs. In CT scans measures the length of the base (Lateral5.58 ± 0.18; Medial 6.52 ± 0.32 / Lateral:5.39 ± 0.09; Medial:6.43 ± 0.18) length lateral (Lateral:5.44 ± 0.21; Medial:6.02 ± 0.24 / and Lateral:5.3 ± 0.17; Medial:6.07 ± 0.27) and height (Lateral: 3 , 98 ± 0.16 and Medial: 4.15 ± 0.12 / Lateral:3.93 ± 0.11; Medial:4.01 ± 0.12) of the distal phalanx, had the highest measured in buffalo and did not differ (p> 0.05) between breeds of cattle. Thus, we conclude that the buffaloes have larger dimensions of the condyles and phalanges. In tomographic imaging, measures the hoof were similar between Nelore and Curraleiro in forelimb and between Curraleiro and Pantaneiro in the hindlimb.Item Sulfato de vincristina no tratamento do tumor venéreo transmissível frente à caracterização citomorfológica(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2009-12-18) SIMERMANN, Nívia Faria Silva; MOURA, Veridiana Maria Brianezi Dignani de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8773201078957745; FIORAVANTI, Maria Clorinda Soares; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8772502020076257; BRITO, Luiz Augusto Batista; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3212353728321020The transmissible venereal tumor (TVT) is among the most common cancers in dogs in Brazil. This is a sexually transmitted cancer through a mechanism of transplantation of viable tumor cells, it has high incidence among dogs of both sexes in reproductive age, with high occurrence in areas of high concentration of dogs with poor control of reproduction. The diagnosis made in the routine of clinical medicine is usually based only on clinical symptoms and the chemotherapy of choice has been the vincristine sulfate. This drug has been shown in most cases a good response to treatment with complete regression of the tumor, but there are also cases where the tumor appears resistant to treatment. This study aimed to demonstrate the practicality of using fine needle aspiration cytology as a method of diagnosis and cytomorphologic classification, being effective and safe as well as measuring the response of different cytomorphologic groups forward to treatment with vincristine sulfate. Also evaluating the clinical response, hematologic and biochemical tests using serum liver function (ALT) and renal (creatinine), in the therapy instituted. Were evaluated and treated 18 dogs of both sexes, carrying TVT, which received six consecutive weeks during the administration of vincristine sulfate in the dosage of 0.03 mg / kg administered intravenously. The animals underwent weekly prior to medication, clinical assessment, haematological and biochemical. It was observed in this study that cytological examination is a simple technique, minimally invasive and painless, and a safe method that provides no risk to the patient's life and does not require the use of sophisticated equipment, sedation or anesthesia for their achievement. Animals carrying the TVT plasmacytoid type, had higher rate of tumor resistance to treatment in relation to established groups and linfocytic mixed, showing a greater resistance to treatment with this group of vincristine sulfate. The efficiency of response to treatment was presented by the linfocytic group. The vincristine sulfate showed few side effects, low hematological, hepatic and renal toxicity, it is therefore an effective option in the control of transmissible venereal tumor in not resistant cases.
