Resumo
The present work aims to conceptualize the Couros Museum of Formosa, corroborating to concepts such as museums, memory, and heritage. The problems related to the Couros Museum are in line with the notion of a narrative construction around the history of the city. The institution was founded in 1996, in the house of its founder, with the aim of being yet another cultural activity conceived by Leônidas da Silva Pires, a culture enthusiast in the city. However,
the narratives built through the exhibitions present in the space raise the question of the exclusions, silencing and erasure of minority groups that were and still are part of the historical process of the city. Thus, there was a survey of sources that could corroborate the hypothesis that the foundation of the Couros Museum contributes to the historical permanence of the speeches of the essential works of the Formosa’s historiography. The works of Olympio Jacintho, Alfredo Antônio Saad and Gustavo Chauvet are the most cited in most of works on the history of Formosa, as well as being basic documents for the narrative construction of what would be the history of Formosa inside the Couros Museum. This museum began in the house of Leônidas da Silva Pires, which led us to the hypothesis of a biographical museum. With the analysis of the photo gallery, it was possible to verify this hypothesis and support it. Thus, as one of the objectives of this work, we defined the Couros Museum as a Historical Museum, with characteristics of a cabinet of curiosities and aspects of a biographical museum.
