Resumo

This study establishes connections between Black Performance and the aesthetics of disability, aiming to highlight artistic productions and trajectories that adopt an anti-racist, anti-sexist, and anti-ableist stance. The study presents a trajectory based on experiences and conceptual approaches that support the notion of Transatlantic Poetics, which asserts itself as an artistic and ethical stance against social injustices caused by structural racism and ableism. To this end, it uses intersectionality as a crossroads between race, gender, and disability as converging demarcations to understand the trajectories of Josy Brasil and Mariana Tembe—Black artists with disabilities—as references for the study. Furthermore, the Center for Performing Arts Research and Investigation (Núcleo de Pesquisa e Investigação Cênica Coletivo 22) (NuPICC) and academic productions addressing Black performance are discussed, as well as the Diversus Dance Group, a training space that prioritizes anti-racist and anti-ableist commitment in its artistic and academic works. Finally, the notion of ancestry and the language of letters are used as poetic and performative resources, supporting the transatlantic poetic development. The results point to possible readings of the works and artistic trajectories discussed, guided by intersectional perspectives and the identity developments of Black people with disabilities and their nuances. This study is considered a work in progress, as are the trajectories presented here, hence the term "Devir."
