Resumo
This thesis, composed of three articles, examines how co-production encouraged in the school context contributes to the socialization of attitudes and behaviors oriented toward collective value among high school students. The first article connects the objectives of school education with those of socialization and co-production. The second article explores the incentives provided by schools that influence students, parents, and the school community to co-produce public value. Finally, the third article identifies the socialization processes associated with coproduction, considering previously implemented school incentives. Broadly, the thesis highlights the role of co-production as a key element in integrating the three domains of education – qualification, socialization, and subjectification – in an interdependent manner. Although based on data from a local context, the research offers insights for authorities to expand co-production, particularly through incentives at the educational level. Additionally, the thesis contributes to the development of projects and services that engage largely inactive citizens, who often consume and demand public services but perceive their influence on public policies as limited. It also proposes indicators that reveal the value of co-production for the quality of public services and the revitalization of democracy.
