Resumo

This research aims to understand whether the production and distribution of serialized television fiction titles on streaming services represent a new phase of North American imperialism based on the analysis of the content of series releases with the Netflix Originals seal in its Brazilian catalog. The theoretical reflections of this work will be made based on the readings of authors who problematize historical issues such as the eras and end of television, changes in the production of serialized fiction, monitoring of the television and streaming industries, and transversality in a context of globalized connections. To this end, we propose to methodologically analyze the content of the monitoring table of the releases of original series considering the themes - countries of origin and year of release - as the main categories of analysis. Initial conclusions from the observation of quantitative data lead us to infer that even in the face of the predominance of titles produced in the United States, there is a growing volume of productions from the ten main countries that are on the list of producers, with representation of Asians, Europeans, and South Americans among the content of Netflix original series.
