Aspectos Da Arte Contemporânea Como Vetores Da Expressão Cênica Inspirada Nas Infâncias

Abstract

This master's thesis investigates some aspects of contemporary art, such as the expanded field, improvisation, remix culture, post-production, and relational art, as well as their repercussions on the visualities of the performing arts, focusing on masks, penetrating costumes, and installations, which are inspired by the potentialities of childhood and are created for and/or with children. Based on a literature review and analysis of works by artists such as Lygia Clark, Hélio Oiticica, and Wander Rodrigues, it investigates how the breaking down of disciplinary boundaries allows for the reinterpretation of scenic elements and the creation of other forms of interaction with the viewer in contemporary art. Qualitative and reflective in nature, the study discusses masking as a comprehensive bodily practice, costumes as active agents, and installations as sensitive and interactive spaces. It also highlights the potential of childhood to attribute new meanings to objects/spaces and how to bring this inspiration to the stage. In this way, it investigates other approaches and meanings for the body, clothing, and scenic space, as observed in children's shows such as “C A M P O.” It is concluded that the articulation between the expansion of contemporary art and children's inventiveness reveals a powerful horizon for aesthetic renewal in the performing arts, by recognizing children as active agents of re-signification and proposing more engaging, sensitive, and multifaceted artistic experiences. These experiences destabilize disciplinary boundaries and expand the expressive vocabulary of the performing arts in contemporary times.
