Resumo
This research investigates the formative potentialities that
emerge from the images of the Movements in Defense of
Education in Brazil (2016), particularly in response to
Provisional Measure No. 746 (High School Reform) and
Constitutional Amendment Proposal No. 246/55 (New Fiscal
Regime). These movements are interwoven with the concept
of Uprisings (Butler, 2017). For the investigation, the
methodologies of Cartography and Social Semiotics are
employed to guide the research process and analyze the
images, respectively, organizing them into a reflective
inventory. The study proposes the concept of the combustive
image to refer to images that act as formative instances,
capable of displacing, straining, and transforming subjects
through their symbolic, political, and affective dimensions. The
findings indicate that such images transcend mere visual
representation, functioning as devices that shape subjectivities
and knowledge within the context of visual culture and
education.
