dc.description.abstractThe research that is been presented is situated in the higher education field in Brazil, with attention focused on the Federal Institutions of Higher Education (IFES). It aimed to reflect on the adhesion of the Federal University of Goiás (UFG) to the Support Program to the Restructuring and Expansion Plans of Federal Universities (Reuni), focusing on the debates that took place regarding to the UFG's acession to the Reuni (period 2006-2008), seeking to discuss the given interpretation about the Reuni by the academic community of UFG, as well as how to highlight the dimensions of the Program presents in the institutional and visual narratives of the UFG Management Book 2006-2013. The topic of the increasing of vacancies in public higher education was already in the UFG guidelines since 2006, due to the UFG's participation in the Inland Program, and discussions on this subject become intensified into the institution since April 2007, the same month which the Reuni was established. As a comprehensive scenario of the subject, the study sought to reflect on higher education in Brazil from its origins and on the changes that occurred in such level of education, which started in the 1990s and continued through the government of Luís Inácio Lula da Silva (2003-2010) that resulted, among other educational policies, in the creation of the Reuni. The institutional narratives about the UFG's membership in the Reuni indicate that the discussions took place by fitting as possible as against the schedule established by the program's creation normative, and that some of the Reuni's dimensions were more perceived than others during this process. In reazon of this, it point to the fact that in the UFG, both the adhesion and the implementation of the Reuni, occurred on a sactisfatory way, although it is also possible to perceive that the axis of expansion (quantitative) proposed by the Reuni was more debated and developed than the restructuring (qualitative), which in no way desqualifies the overall results of the Program.eng

dc.description.resumoA pesquisa ora apresentada está situada no espaço da educação superior do Brasil, com atenção voltada para as Instituições Federais de Ensino Superior (IFES). Teve como objetivo refletir sobre a adesão da Universidade Federal de Goiás (UFG) aoPrograma de Apoio a Planos de Reestruturação e Expansão das Universidades Federais (Reuni), com foco nos debates que ocorreram em torno da adesão da UFG ao Reuni (período 2006-2008). Buscou discorrer sobre a interpretação dada ao Reuni pela comunidade acadêmica da UFG, bem como evidenciar as dimensões do Programa presentes nas narrativas institucionais e visualidades do Livro da Gestão UFG 2006-2013. O tema expansão de vagas no ensino superior público já constava nas pautas da UFG desde 2006, em razão da sua participação no Programa de Interiorização, de modo que os debates em torno do assunto se intensificaram na instituição a partir de abril de 2007, mês de criação do Reuni. Como cenário abrangente do objeto, o estudo buscou refletir sobre o ensino superior no Brasil a partir das suas origens e a respeito das mudanças ocorridas em seu âmbito, iniciadas na década de 1990 e continuadas pelo governo de Luís Inácio Lula da Silva (2003-2010). Transformações que resultaram, dentre outras políticas educacionais, na criação do Reuni. As narrativas institucionais sobre a adesão da UFG ao Reuni indicam que os debates ocorreram dentro daquilo que foi possível frente ao cronograma imposto pela normativa de criação do Programa, e que algumas dimensões do Reuni foram mais percebidas do que outras durante esse processo. A despeito disso, sinalizam para o fato de que na UFG, tanto a adesão quanto a implementação do Reuni ocorreram de modo satisfatório, embora seja possível perceber também que o eixo da expansão (quantitativo) proposto pelo Reuni foi mais debatido e desenvolvido que o da reestruturação (qualitativo), o que em nada desabona os resultados gerais do Programa.eng
