Entre fuga e sonho: mundos bastardos e paisagens pequenas

Abstract

Bastard worlds are counter-visualities in the sertão. This is an experimental anthropological inquiry. To inhabit the Cerrado-world in times of crisis is to endure the fissures of a territory in dispute and to give rise to new thematic possibilities for an insurgent anthropology. I am a bodyterritory searching for origins and for my place in the world. As an artist, a traveler, a disturber of order, I plunge into an affective cartography to investigate the small landscapes of the Cerrado. Amid affected alterities, in exploring memories of an imagined future, I reflect on the perception of life in the confines of these bastard worlds. To be born and raised in the Cerrado is to resist—an act of risking oneself across borderland horizons. As an artist-anthropologist, the Cerrado emerges and re-emerges as a (re)enchantment with life. To be enchanted is a certain way of fleeing. To re-enchant oneself is an attempt to dream of other impossible worlds
