Duas culturas em um corpo Kamayurá: crises xinguanas contemporâneas e o corpo-político

Abstract

This dissertation investigates the transformations that have occurred in the practice of Huka-huka wrestling among the Kamaiurá people of the Upper Xingu, focusing on the body as a central dimension of culture. Based on conversations with relatives and on the notion of culture learned in anthropology, I reflect on the contemporary challenges experienced by my people, especially the coexistence between two worlds: the traditional and the non-Indigenous. I question how to control this delicate relationship, in which the same body needs to deal with two cultures. The research seeks to contribute to Indigenous anthropology and to broader reflections on the cultural and environmental sustainability of the planet.
