Resumo
The institutionalization of Construction Management (CM) in Brazil has been consolidated over recent decades, driven by the sector’s demand for greater efficiency, quality, and technological innovation. This study presents an overview of research lines in CM in the country, focusing on thematic categorization and the historical evolution of this academic discipline. The methodology was based on an exploratory-descriptive approach with a hybrid (qualitative– quantitative) design. Initially, a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was conducted using international databases to identify scientific categorization methods, resulting in the selection of 44 articles that supported the development of the analysis protocol. In the national context, data collection included 396 articles published between 2001 and 2025, retrieved from the Lattes Platform, SciELO, and Google Scholar. The national findings reveal that scientific production is strongly concentrated in the Southeast and South regions, with the journal Ambiente Construído standing out as the primary dissemination channel (24.75% of publications). The proposed categorization identified 14 thematic axes, in which Production Management (19.70%), Strategic Management (13.64%), and Information and Communication Technologies applied to Management (11.87%) emerged as the most consolidated research lines. In contrast, topics such as Risk Management and Logistics remain underexplored research gaps in Brazil. The comparative analysis with the international scenario, based on the Journal of Construction Engineering and Management (JCEM), indicates convergence in the areas of digitalization and production, but highlights that global research places greater emphasis on Risk Management and Occupational Health and Safety. This study contributes to the strengthening of academic education by mapping trends and research gaps, providing support for the strategic alignment of Brazilian graduate programs with global demands.
