Bachelard e a linguagem

Abstract

This research begins with the observation that language constitutes a constant theme throughout the philosophical trajectory of Gaston Bachelard (1884–1962). From this enduring interest arises, as we seek to emphasize, distinct configurations of this theme according to the different phases of his thought. Considering the recognized polarity of his work, this study aims to clarify the meaning that the problem of language acquires in each of these phases. To that end, it traces the development of Bachelardian thought in chronological perspective, from his analyses of the scientific mind to the study of poetic images. This methodological approach directly affects the way language is conceived: initially circumscribed within the problem of the scientific concept, it progressively shifts toward the question of the image in the literary domain. Throughout this trajectory, related themes emerge that systematically articulate with the central reflection on language, such as psychoanalysis, psychology, phenomenology, and the critical dialogue established with Henri Bergson (1859–1941). These theoretical axes will be examined in an integrated manner, insofar as they prove inseparable from the problem we have set out to investigate. With this, we aim to delimit the conceptual foundations that support the proposed analysis and that may serve as a basis for further, more in-depth investigations into Bachelardian philosophy.
