dc.description.abstractThis research has the following question: “How is melodramatic imagination built in the animations Children Who Chase Lost Voices (2011), Garden of Words (2013) and Your Name (2016) by Makoto Shinkai?”. It starts with the understanding that the Japanese animations chosen as objects use melodramatic imagination characteristics as strategies to elaborate their narratives. The stories are built to explore emotions, produce dramatic and emotional effects, reach the viewers' subjectivity and lead them to identification and reflection. Thus, it sought to understand the general characteristics of anime, highlight its history and evolution, understand melodrama as a genre, the way it has adapted over the years until reaching the notion of melodramatic imagination, observe some of its aspects in the Japanese context and identify its characteristics within of the chosen films. As a methodological approach, bibliographical research was carried out on themes involving the study and film analysis of the three animations to identify traces of the melodramatic imagination from specific points, such as the construction of the characters, music, narrative, moral, among others. The research achieved its expected results, ensured greater knowledge about Japanese animations and melodrama, found melodramatic characteristics in the analyzed works of Makoto Shinkai and showed that these attributes can help to bring people of different nationalities and cultures closer together by reaching the emotional and the subjectivity of the spectators.eng

dc.description.resumoEsta pesquisa tem como questão problema a indagação: “Como a imaginação melodramática é construída nas animações Children Who Chase Lost Voices (2011), Garden of Words (2013)e Your Name (2016W) de Makoto Shinkai?”. Parte-se do entendimento de que as animações japonesas escolhidas como objetos utilizam características da imaginação melodramática como estratégias para elaborar suas narrativas. As histórias são construídas de forma a explorar as emoções, produzir efeitos dramáticos e emocionais, atingir a subjetividade dos espectadores e levá-los à identificação e reflexão. Assim, buscou-se perceber as características gerais dos animês, destacar sua história e evolução, compreender o melodrama como gênero, a forma pela qual se adaptou ao longo dos anos até chegar à noção de imaginação melodramática, observar alguns de seus aspectos no contexto japonês e identificar suas características dentro dos filmes escolhidos. Como percurso metodológico, realizou-se pesquisas bibliográficas sobre os temas que envolvem o estudo e análises fílmicas das três animações para identificar traços da imaginação melodramática a partir de pontos específicos, como a construção dos personagens, as músicas, narrativa, a moral, dentre outros. A pesquisa alcançou seus resultados esperados, garantiu maior conhecimento acerca das animações japonesas e do melodrama, encontrou características melodramáticas nas obras analisadas de Makoto Shinkai e mostrou que esses atributos podem servir de auxílio para aproximar pessoas de nacionalidades e culturas diferentes ao atingir o emocional e a subjetividade dos espectadores.
