Resumo

The greenhouse with colorful photoseletive screens improves the quality of diffused light under, fruits and vegetables cultivation. Aiming to evaluate the effect of these screens in the nutritional quality of bell peppers, yellow peppers (Eppo) and red peppers (Margarita) were grown under protected environment red and blue screen with 40% of shade. Was determined physical appearance (weight, length and color) and chemical aspects (proximate composition, pH, total soluble solids, vitamin C, carotenoids, phenolic compounds and antioxidant activity by DPPH and FRAP). The Tukey (p <0.05) test was used to comparison between means and Pearson correlation test was used to assess correlations between bioactive and antioxidant capacity. The photoseletive screens did not affect the chemical composition, the content of soluble solids and vitamin C of bell peppers. Cultivating with photoseletive screens increased carotenoid content, enhanced the brightness and tones of red in red peppers and the antioxidant activity in yellow peppers. The photoseletive screens did not affect the bioactive content of yellow peppers. Cultivation in the open air increased phenolic levels and antioxidant activity in red peppers. There is a positive correlation between bioactive compounds and antioxidant activity in red peppers. The effects of photoseletive screens are positive and depend on each cultivar.
