A construção histórico-cultural do perdão: análise a partir da obra literária Tudo é rio

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to investigate, based on Carla Madeira's novel (2022), the construction of forgiveness in the face of domestic violence. To understand the role of emotions in this context, it was necessary to present what emotion is and how it is expressed; to explain the historical nature of emotions and how they are historically and socially determined; to analyze the relationships between gender and emotion; and finally, to understand forgiveness, specifically how it is expressed in Brazilian society, considering gender relations. Our research was characterized as documentary research because, according to Ferreira (2015), a book can carry characteristics of its historical time, such as customs, traditions, and social organization, in addition to the possibility of being an instrument of denunciation. The theoretical basis fundamental to our investigation was historical-cultural psychology, based on the dialectical method. For the analysis of the psychological synthesis expressed in the literary work, we used the objectively analytical method, as well as reader criticism for the ethical-political analysis of emotions, more specifically forgiveness. In our final considerations, we present the importance of the ethical-political dimension for understanding forgiveness in the face of a situation of violence, considering culture as an indispensable element in the development of emotions.
