dc.description.abstractThe narrative is, together with memory, the foundation of the historian's work. Here, we will take the narrative of aesthetic dazzle and the narrative of social memory as elements of speech of the city and the Cathedral of Barcelona between the 13th and 15th centuries – period of construction of the Gothic building. The memories related to the Cathedral of Barcelona at that time will be identified and analyzed from the events that involved it – internally and externally – and from the imaginary of the temple formed from the facts and social perspectives themselves. The landscape will be understood as the field of visualization in which the Cathedral inserts itself and characterizes it visually, with the Gothic Cathedral being the element of space that supports the landscape design in front of the aesthetics and the value judgments for it and built by it. From impressions, emotions and aesthetics, to which popular legends and knowledge are linked, the memory of the Cathedral of Barcelona was based on the very structure of the building. At the same time, the temple assisted in the construction of the memory of an external landscape, this space comprising the entire city of Barcelona and especially the Cathedral area. Thus, the Gothic aesthetics, here, will be perceived as the driving element of the imaginary related to the Cathedral, also enabling the affirmation of a landscape of internal memory, in view of the resources used by such architectural style in order to resort to the artistic sensitivity as a form of sensory rapture and fostering faith.eng

dc.description.resumoA narrativa é, junto da memória, alicerce do trabalho do historiador. Aqui, tomaremos a narrativa do deslumbramento estético e a narrativa da memória social como elementos de fala da cidade e da Catedral de Barcelona entre os séculos XIII e XV – período de construção do edifício gótico. Serão identificadas e analisadas as memórias relativas à Catedral de Barcelona naquele momento a partir dos acontecimentos que a envolveram – interna e externamente – e a partir do imaginário do templo formado a partir dos próprios fatos e perspectivas sociais. A paisagem será compreendida como o campo de visualização no qual a Catedral se insere e o caracteriza visualmente, sendo a Catedral gótica o elemento do espaço que respalda a concepção paisagística frente à estética e os juízos de valor para ela e por ela construídos. A partir de impressões, emoções e estética, às quais vinculam-se lendas e saberes populares, a memória da Catedral de Barcelona teve por fundamento a própria estrutura do edifício. Paralelamente, o templo auxiliou na construção da memória de uma paisagem externa, desse espaço que compreende toda a cidade de Barcelona e principalmente a zona da Catedral. Desse modo, a estética gótica, aqui, será percebida como o elemento propulsor do imaginário relativo à Catedral, possibilitando ainda a afirmação de uma paisagem de memória interna, frente aos recursos utilizados por tal estilo arquitetônico a fim de recorrer aos sentidos e à sensibilidade artística como forma de arrebatamento sensorial e fomento à fé.eng
