A participação de mulheres na perpetuação de movimentos conservadores: uma leitura desde a Psicologia Política

Abstract

The research aimed to investigate the participation of women in the construction and perpetuation of conservative and far-right movements in Brazil, despite the fact that women have historically been a social group oppressed by such ideologies. Its main objective was to analyze the motivations and ideological representations that sustain women's adherence to conservatism, as well as to problematize the role of Psychology in either reproducing or challenging these ideologies. To this end, the study was grounded in Marxism and articulated with Political Psychology in order to understand the ideological foundations of this phenomenon. The main analytical categories adopted were women, family, and work, examined in relation to the development of capitalism and contemporary forms of maintaining the social order. The theoretical and methodological framework followed a critical and dialectical approach, understanding social phenomena as historically determined totalities. The research was situated within the tradition of Latin American Political Psychology, which conceives psychological knowledge as a situated, politically engaged practice oriented toward social transformation. This theoretical perspective opposes the notion of scientific neutrality and the fragmentation between the individual and collective dimensions of human behavior. Thus, the dissertation sought to contribute to the understanding of women's involvement in conservative movements and to strengthen a Political Psychology committed to human emancipation, capable of unveiling the ideological mechanisms that naturalize inequalities and sustain gender domination. The study concludes that understanding this phenomenon requires moving beyond explanations centered solely on individual affects, taking into account the material and social determinants that sustain the reproduction of conservative and far-right ideologies.
