Resumo

This work investigates serialized fictional narratives available on the internet in the context of the post-television era, using Girls In The House, a web series created by Brazilian Raony Phillips using the game The Sims 4, as a starting point. To this end, a stylistic analysis of the web series' 5th season is employed, considering the limitations and potential of machinima as a form of audiovisual production. The study engages with the theoretical frameworks of Bordwell (2008) and Jullier and Marie (2009), not in relation to stylistic analysis, as well as the contributions of Jost (2014) and Aeraphe (2013) to understanding the transformations between television and web series. Without focusing on the tension between games and audiovisual media, reflections from Santaella (1992), Machado (2001), Nitsche (2008), and Lowood (2011) are also drawn upon. As a result, research demonstrates that the web series appropriates conventions from cinema and television, while simultaneously reconfiguring itself within the digital context and highlighting solutions to technical and expressive impasses. It should be noted that Raony's style manifests itself in the articulation between dubbing, editing, and narrative strategies, especially in the mobilization of genres such as comedy and suspense. Finally, it is observed that the web series Girls In The House is situated within a scenario of cultural hybridization, in which machinima consolidates itself as a space for experimentation and aesthetic exploration.
