Resumo
The Cerradão presents species that occur in the Cerrado sense restricted and also species that occur in forest formations, having physiognomic similarity as forest, and floristically with savanna formations. Necromass is defined as all dead plant material present in natural or anthropized ecosystems present on the forest surface and has been shown to be an important component of forest carbon stock. Therefore, the objective of this work was to quantify necromass in a cerradão area. in the municipality of Niquelandia-Go, determining total volume and dry weight and by degree of decomposition using the methodology adopted by the Brazilian Forest Service. For sampling was established the minimum diameter of the pieces of 2.5 cm, 10m transects and subplots of 1m² and classified into three levels of decomposition where, level 1 are newly fallen pieces, level 2 are pieces in early stage of decomposition and Level 3 are advanced stage pieces of decomposition. Resulting in an average of 1.99 Mg / ha of dry weight and an average of 21.24 m³ / ha for estimated volume. In the decomposition grade category, level 2 (early stage) obtained the highest frequency in both variables, followed by level 1 (new) for dry weight, level 3 (advanced stage) for volume. And approximately 64% of the measured pieces had a diameter between 2.5 and 6.6 cm and this percentage decreased with the increase of the class value and presented the inverted “J” diameter distribution pattern, as for the standing forest.
