Resumo

This work investigates the history of Vila Itatiaia, a housing complex in Goiânia-GO, based on the accounts of its residents. The central question is: how do the residents' accounts reveal and (re)construct the history, territorial identity, and appropriation of space, highlighting urban transformations in Goiânia? The general objective is to analyze the history, formation of territorial identity, and appropriation of space in Vila Itatiaia through residents' accounts. The research is based on theoretical frameworks of oral history (Portelli, Thompson), collective memory (Halbwachs, Nora), spatial appropriation (Lefebvre, Melo), topophilia (Tuan), and social museology (Varine, Soares). The semi-structured interviews reveal that Vila Itatiaia is signified through leisure activities in the central park and community festivals; institutions such as the Waldemar Mundim School and the Urban Social Center; transformations in the dynamics of appropriation; and diverse perceptions of security. The study concludes that urban history is constructed by ordinary people through everyday practices of territorial signification. The research contributes to the field of Museology, demonstrating the potential for musealizing community narratives as a strategy for recognizing the agency of residents and preserving local histories in peripheral contexts.
