Resumo
Transport aviation plays a crucial role in enhancing the mobility and operational capacity of combat and defense resources essential to ensuring the sovereignty of Brazilian airspace. This study applies the p-median linear programming model to determine the best location within existing airbases to receive the new KC-390 aircraft and replacements for the C-130 Hercules. The study analyzed two years of missions conducted by these aircraft, totaling 1,354 flight records in 2022 and 1,556 in 2023. Application of the p-median model revealed that bases located in Manaus/AM, Brasília/DF, and Rio de Janeiro/RJ are the most suitable for optimizing the allocation of the KC-390 fleet, considering the minimization of distances in meeting demands weighted by the number of operations at each aerodrome. This study contributes to efficiently managing the Brazilian Air Force’s logistical and operational resources, highlighting the strategic relevance of the proposed locations.
