Abstract

The present research focuses on investigating the trend in European comic books known as clear line. In addition to addressing the origins, characteristics, and major artists of this style, with an emphasis on Hergé and Moebius, there is a stylistic comparison of the ligne claire with manga, north-american superhero comics, and poetic-philosophic comics. Concurrently with the theoretical investigation, a comic that discusses and represents the clear line from an authorial and metalinguistic perspective was produced, giving the research a theoretical-practical character. Thus, the research provides a broad overview and a deeper understanding of the clear line, highlighting its historical relevance and stylistic particularities, as well as its practical application in the produced authorial comics. The study contributes to understanding the nuances of this comic style and its enduring influence on contemporary artistic production.
