Abstract

This undergraduate thesis develops a critical analysis of Brazilian housing production, with an emphasis on social housing (HIS), articulating its historical milestones, public policies, and socio-spatial impacts. By examining the trajectory of housing in Brazil—from rent-based production to contemporary programs such as Minha Casa, Minha Vida—the study identifies the persistence of standardized, peri￾pheral, and poorly integrated models that reinforce inequalities and limit the right to the city. The research also examines the specific context of Goiânia, highlighting its urbanization dynamics, the role of the IAPs, the FCP, and COHAB, as well as the structural patterns of peripheral city formation. Grounded in this theoretical fra￾mework and in the in-depth study of Ocupação Emanuele, located in Jardim Novo Mundo, the work proposes an architectural and urban design project for a housing complex aimed at relocating its families, guided by principles that prioritize spa￾tial quality, environmental comfort, urban integration, and a strengthened sense of belonging. Thus, this research seeks to contribute to more sensitive, inclusive, and socially committed design practices aligned with the right to adequate housing.
