Resumo
This is an autobiographical art research project that draws on healing writing to explore the role of red in my artistic process. Inspired by poets who write to other women about healing—fostering self-strengthening through care, the recovery of selflove, and the concept of the body-as-home—I channel this empowerment into my practice by creating safe universes where I can dwell. I seek to nurture healing images just as they nurture me with healing words, recognizing that the materiality that most attracts and supports me at this moment is red, which therefore becomes the focus of this research. Through red, I engage with the self-portraits and expanded drawings of artist Julia Panadés, finding yet again a connection with the word. I connect with the body-as-home and pain in the work of artist Louise Bourgeois, discovering ties to installation art as well. Specifically through the red thread, I approach the themes of identity and belonging explored by artist Adrianna Eu, establishing connections with installation art and a bridge to the expanded field of the body, as conceptualized by Viviane Matesco. At this point, I consider the notions of autobiographical art research developed by Manoela A. A. Rodrigues and the concept of healing writing as studied by Geruza Zelnys.
