Resumo

This undergraduate thesis investigates how visual arts contribute to the development of children aged 0 to 2 years, highlighting the importance of sensitive, playful, and aesthetically stimulating pedagogical practices in Early Childhood Education. The research combines a narrative review and reports from supervised internships, allowing the articulation between theory and practice. Based on observations of children in different educational contexts, activities were designed that explore colors, textures, shapes, and poetic language, strengthening sensory perception, creativity, socialization, and a sense of belonging to the natural and cultural environment. As a culmination of the research, the original children’s book “Who is this animal?” was developed, integrating elements of the Cerrado biome and promoting meaningful visual and cognitive experiences for the target age group. The results show that art in early childhood constitutes an essential pedagogical resource, fostering holistic development, affective bonds, and the construction of cultural identities.
