Resumo

This study investigates the difficulties faced by women of short stature in fashion consumption and analyzes how the lack of products proportionate to their bodies affects their shopping experience and sense of representation. Although this group represents a significant portion of the Brazilian female population, the national market still offers few options targeted at petite women, revealing a mismatch between demand and supply. To understand this scenario, the research adopts a qualitative and exploratory approach, bringing together theoretical references on fashion and the body, anthropometric studies, and principles of ergonomics and patternmaking applied to women of shorter stature. The study also evaluates the Brazilian market, identifies gaps in the development of garments, and examines how aesthetic and functional factors influence consumers’ perception and satisfaction. Based on this analysis, a specific measurement chart for the petite public was developed, guiding the creation of an authorial collection grounded in the identified needs. A questionnaire administered to consumers complements the data, supporting design decisions and the construction of the prototyped garments. The results highlight the importance of expanding the presence of petite fashion in the country, reinforcing its relevance for inclusion, diversity, and the improvement of design practices within the apparel sector.
