Resumo
This work presents a comparative analysis of technical performance and resource optimization between the use of conventional conductors (ACSR) and high-performance conductors (ACCC) in overhead transmission lines, modeled using PLS-CADD and ATPDraw software. The study discusses how the increasing demand for energy and socio-environmental constraints for the construction of new corridors drive the need to optimize infrastructure, overcoming the thermomechanical limitations of traditional cables. The main impacts of technological replacement are addressed, such as the reduction of sag at high temperatures, the increase in power transmission capacity, and the consequent reduction in steel demand for support structures. The methodology is based on the simulation of a real 230 kV Transmission Line route, evaluating two different tension scenarios to determine the optimal tower spotting. The results obtained evidence that the use of the ACCC cable allowed doubling the transmission capacity and reducing the total weight of metallic structures by about 10%, demonstrating a lower ratio of structural steel weight per MVA of maximum transmissible power. The work contributes to the understanding of the physical advantages of high-performance cable technology, providing a quantitative basis for transmission network expansion and existing line uprating projects that seek to maximize the use of transmission assets in the face of increasing demand and the need to expand energy flow capacity.
