Aspectos psicoemocionais e seus impactos na equipe multiprofissional de cuidados paliativos

Resumo

Palliative care is a form of care that provides patients with relief from suffering, pain management, and other physical, psychosocial, and spiritual symptoms. However, this care can have emotional impacts on the members of the multidisciplinary team. This study aims to understand the psychological aspects of the team and the main factors that contribute to their well-being and performance; identify the challenges faced by health professionals; point out the main self-care strategies adopted by the team; and investigate the team's perception of the importance of psychological support. This is a study with a qualitative and descriptive approach, using semi-structured interviews. Twenty interviews were conducted with professionals who work directly with palliative care in an infectious diseases hospital. The interviews suggest that care needs to be more humanized. It is essential to exercise empathy, as well as the need for self-care strategies to assist the palliative care team, such as creating a more dynamic, cooperative, and welcoming work environment, transforming the challenges faced into opportunities for growth.
