Resumo

This academic work delves into the many layers surrounding the abandonment and care of small animals found on the streets, specifically dogs and cats. This is the primary target audience of the exploratory, qualitative, and bibliographical research, followed by the proposed design. It begins with a research project involving three problematic areas based on the Vitruvian triad, with citations from leading authors in Architecture, and with a technical approach provided by the Federal Council of Veterinary Medicine. Following the first chapter, the general and specific objectives are explained (the latter in five topics), offering solutions for post-research practice. The same chapter then presents the justification, highlighting the lack of veterinary medical establishments that offer complete support to pet owners, especially those with low incomes. Emergency care is the main topic of this first chapter. The theoretical research and the preliminary project are based on books, laws, publications, and theses on architecture and veterinary medicine. Chapter 2 addresses issues related to adoption, key indicators of animal abuse, awareness campaigns such as Orange April, federal laws, the situation of low-income pet owners, and the pet market, showing how animals are integrated into the family context. Chapter 3 discusses references to veterinary clinics in the international context, premises in the planning of veterinary spaces, and functional and sanitary guidelines. Chapter 4 presents case study analyses at the national and international levels, discussing the surroundings, site plan, floor plan, and form. The Sentidos Veterinary Clinic and the Tierklinik Masans Veterinary Clinic are analyzed, respectively. Chapter 5 portrays the site analysis, focusing on the main constraints of the chosen site's surroundings. Chapter 6 addresses the initial constraints of the preliminary design phase, such as concept, design approach, program of needs, and other elements that comprise the creative process and preliminary design.
